Saint Chapelle II

An absolutely gorgeous chapel (read cathedral) built in the heart of Paris. They then built the french Supreme court around it. Saint Chapelle was originally built to house relics of Jesus' crown of thorns and  the original cross found in the holy lands durning the crusades.
This was a triumph of gothic construction.  The entire clerestory is stained glass which lets in an incredible amount of light. All the photos were taken at dusk, so not so much was shining through, but the amount of glass and luminescence in the building had to be astonishing at the time. There was nothing like it.
