Square Trees
Kind of amazing that the majority of the work to do this is done by hand. There is a big hedge trimmer for the sides.

Appetizer...
And I ate it. I hate fish but these sardines ( I know right?) were amazing and had a beautiful smoky flavor. I will do this again. . .

Thoughts of postings
So, it has been a big month of posting, actually the most ever. At the same time I am thinking what are you thinking? My intention when starting this was to be an aesthetic diary showing you things I like or thought about, and for the most part it has been that, with reflective moments thrown in. The question I have for you is that this past month has been the most I have ever entered onto this blog and it has been a consorted effort. To me it feels like there has been less detail and more overalls, which I don't know if it is good or bad. As it has been a slow month here in Paris people-wise (yay August) I have had the opportunity to try to show as much as I can of my adventure here.
Another blogger, my guru of sorts, as she is a saint in this, told me she posts as it comes to her. She doesn't hold back. For me to do this I have been starting to prepare things at night and then write or format them for you in the morning. What do you think of all of this substance. Has it gone down, or do you like the mass quantity that I have been doleing out?
Thoughts?
P.S. I wrote this several days ago, as I thought of it and was afraid I would forget to post it.
P.P.S. I almost did.

Paris Rock en Seine
Death in Vegas - so cool and completely music and light based.
At the foot of the tree covered hill is where the four stages of the festival are placed, all surrounding it
Seasick Steve, very much american rock. He was a real tramp as he left home at 13.
CSS - the girl is nuts - but great energy
Yesterday was the first of the three day music festival of Rock en Seine. It is at Parc de Saint-Cloud technically just out side of Paris ( just across the Seine). I have discovered three new bands which are fantastic, seen a few more already I liked, and watched a megaband, who put on a great show, but I just wasn't that interested. Respectively Seasick Steve, Herman Düne, Death in Vegas, the Kills, CSS, Kid Cudi, and the Foo Fighters (blah). Overall a great day, except for the bit of rain which constantly threatened and only made good on the threat after Seasick Steve and Death in Vegas (which was the last show of the night)

On the way to work this morning
Walking to work this morning (at 5:30) it was not only dark , but completely empty. I have never seen St. Michel empty. This is the equivalent of union square being quiet with not a soul to be seen at 5 am. I thought I was maybe walking through someone's dream sequence/disaster film,/alien invasion/body snatcher/parallel universe set. It was quite cool, but made me keep looking over my shoulder.

Character shoes
For those fans of Opera, you may or may not recognize the basis of Opera for all female performers, character shoes. Basically to keep these divas out of the air and onto the floor some little man decided that these performers would have to wear, quite possibly the ugliest shoes on earth (next to toe shoes of course). I happened upon a whole store of them in the Marais. I think they might still be considered fashionable by some doyennes of the Octogenarian set.
And then the last picture is of a pretty flower, kind of like sorbet to cleanse the palate, except this is to scrub out your eyeballs.

AAA vs AA+
Just curiously. How is it possible that they US is ranked lower than France when it comes to sovereign debt. France produces a tiny amount, compared to the US, borrows more, has a worse financial system, with banks still on the verge, many if mot all bought out by the government? Also the entire system of the Euro is in jeopardy as Italy and Spain are facing massive deficits.
I know this isn't the usual fodder, but I find it ridiculous sounding to me. I also, don't really know much about this ranking system, but as I now live here in France and see how people work, live, and are taxed, it doesn't make sense to me. Perhaps someone can enlighten me a bit.

Chantilly pt. 3
Architecture, bits and pieces.
Chapel entrance. Gilded crown of thorns
The entire ceiling. I am not typically into decoration and embellishment like this but it is quite nice.
Delicate scroll work
The inlay here is incredible. This band runs the entire length of the room
More inlay with scrolling and carving.
This carving is incredible. So beautiful.
The stables again
A stall in the stable, bead board walls, porcelain feeding bowls
This dappled grey activating his water fountain
It was feeding time.
The two above are of the ceiling area of the stables.
The stable stalls were made on Faubourg St. Honoré. So cool and a good reminder of what Paris looked like before luxury retail and government embassies moved in.
